Terracotta Warriors & City Tour – from £67 pp
Discover Xian on the private full day tour. Your first stop will be to the world famous Terracotta Warriors. Here 8000 lifesized soldiers stand in battle formation – each unique warrior crafted and painted by hand and astonishingly unearthed in 1974 by peasant farmers. After lunch, visit the imposing Big Wild Goose Pagoda, climbing 200ft high; the Great Mosque; and walk along the perfectly preserved historic city walls.
Suzhou Gardens Tour – from £100 pp
Covering over 12 acres, the Garden of the Humble Adminstrator is the largest garden in Suzhou and one of the most famous in China. It was originally built in the Ming Dynasty by a former government servant during his retirement. Today the garden is full of water features, pavilions and octagonal pagodas set against a beautiful landscape of bamboo forests, pine trees and rock formations. You’ll also discover the Garden of the Master of the Nets during this full day tour, which includes train transfers, a visit to a silk museum, lunch and a rickshaw ride.
River Li Cruise – from £97 pp
Cruise down the River Li from Guilin to Yangshuo, passing dramatic limestone karsts rising from the glistening water. Watch fishermen float by in bamboo rafts and admire lift on the river banks, from locals working the rice paddies to water buffalos grazing. Stop off to explore scenic Yangshuo – perhaps by bicycle – discovering the surrounding villages, stunning countryside and narrow streets home to local craft shops.
Shanghai City Tour – from £52 pp
The first stop on the full day tour is Shanghai museum, full of Neolithic pottery and intricate calligraphy. It is a great place to learn about Chinese art and culture. Stroll along the ornate Bund, featuring grand riverside colonial buildings and, after lunch, explore the old town where tiny traditional buildings stand firm against the sweeping tide of progress. At its heart is the classical Yuyuan Garden, an oasis of peace in the city and a stunning example of a Ming and Qing garden, with breathtaking scenery and traditional architecture.
