The island of Borneo is made up of parts of three different countries - Indonesia, Brunei and Malaysia. It is home to some of the Far East’s finest luxury hotels. From coral-sheltered beaches and dense rainforest inhabited by the endangered orangutan, to towering mountains, historic towns and villages and a unique island culture and cuisine.
The coast offers some great diving opportunities, particularly off East Sarawak and on the islands of Sabah, with some unique marine life, coral sheltered beaches and turtles.
Not to be missed …
- A side trip to Sandakan for the world-famous Sepilok Orang-utan Sanctuary. Highly trained specialists prepare captive, orphaned or injured orang-utans, found naturally only in Borneo and Sumatra, for their release back into the wild, giving you the opportunity to observe them feeding in their natural jungle surroundings.
- The more energetic could also consider a trip to climb Mount Kinabalu, Borneo's highest point experiencing the park’s natural wonders including clear waterfalls, bamboo forests and an orchid centre.
- A visit to Selingan, also known as Turtle Island. Here you can visit the turtle hatchery, and in the evening you can watch the turtles come ashore to lay their eggs.
- Our 'Wild Man of Borneo' tour is perfect for those who wish to experience jungle treks and Iban warriors. The tour combines the best of Sabah and Sarawak with a visit to Kuala Lumpur.
With such variety on offer, Borneo is very much a tailor-made destination. We will be happy to assist with planning your visit to Sabah and/or Sarawak and combining it with Singapore, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur or wherever else you choose.
