As master of your own vessel, the freedom of bareboating is hard to beat, being your own skipper and free to create your own itinerary.
If you do not feel sufficiently confident you may wish to opt for a yacht or catamaran charter with your own captain and professional full time crew and chef. Our recommendation is the Turkish Gulet. Gulets are traditional style Turkish wooden motor sailers, fully equipped for a comfortable relaxing holiday – your private villa afloat. Seyhan Jan Gulet Cruise – Recently refurbished, this air-conditioned, large gullet accommodates upto eighteen in nine master cabins and has stylish fittings with teak floors and mahogany walls. The bathrooms have been tastefully designed.
Greece
The Ionian is one of the Mediterranean’s most popular yachting destinations with gentle breezes and a scattering of picturesque islands and sheltered harbours offering the perfect introduction to sailing. With picturesque fishing harbours and idyllic anchorages, the glorious Greek islands offer total freedom for those seeking a bareboat charter. For the less experienced sailor, the Southern Ionian with its sheltered waters and generally shorter routes is ideal, whilst the Northern Ionian offers more adventurous sailing with longer passages, less crowded waters and steady breezes.
Caribbean
With so many tropical islands to explore in picture postcard surroundings, sailing has to be the best way to discover the real Caribbean. Anchor off your own white sandy beach or snorkel among rainbow colours of a coral reef. For couples, it’s the ultimate romantic escape with long, sandy beaches and tiny desert islands and for solo travellers and groups of friends it is simply “dream” sailing. Bahamas
Forming a 120 mile necklace of islands in some of the clearest water in the world, the Islands of the Bahamas are simply not to be missed with the World’s third longest barrier reef and nearly a quarter of the World’s coral lying in their waters.
Seychelles
Just south of the Equator in the western Indian Ocean, this sailing destination is one of the few remaining areas in the world that is relatively uncommercialised with its granite and coral islands, many uninhabited, and its porcelain white beaches and shimmering aquamarine waters. Praslin is the charter base being one of the larger inner islands.
Malaysia
The hundred or so islands in the Langkawi archipelago offer deserted beaches, modern marinas and world-class resorts. The yachts are based at Telega Marina on Langkawi.
Thailand
Phuket faces eastwards into the cruising area of the Andaman Sea, where you will find peace and tranquillity amongst dramatic scenery and beautiful beaches. Phang Nga Bay is a protected, very dramatic cruising area, with a fantasic gallery of giant limestone sculptures rising out of emerald waters. Dotted with tropical islands, the sailing is safe.
Whitsundays
On the northeast coast of Australia, inside the Great Barrier Reef, lush forested islands with secluded anchorages with brilliant clear turquoise water and magnificent coral reefs. Our charter base is Airlie Beach on the mainland coast within easy reach of flight connections.
French Polynesia
The Society Islands, Tahiti, Moorea, Bora Bora, Hauhine, Taha’a, Raiatea and Maupiti, have volcanic mountain peaks and lush vegetation, surrounded by white sand beaches and turquoise lagoons protected by coral reefs. In the middle of the South Pacific Ocean, this is sailing paradise. Our charter base is Raiatea Island – 40 minute flight from Tahiti.
