Legal requirements
- Minimum residency for wedding ceremonies is three working days.
- Copies of birth certificates and 10 year passports are required.
- If your name has been changed by Deed Poll, legal proof is required.
- If divorced, Decree Absolute.
- Adoption papers, if applicable.
- If widowed, death certificate of former spouse and previous marriage certificate must be produced.
- If single, an affidavit to confirm status, notarised by a notary public.
- Couples must be 21 or over.
- Details of home address and occupation of bride and groom.
- Name, age, nationality, home address and occupation of four witnesses.
- Tourist identification, which will be provided by customs upon arrival at Cancun Airport.
- Copies of all mentioned documents will be required eight weeks prior to departure, original documents are to be hand-carried in resort.
- The certified copies of the documents have to be presented at the Foreign & Commomwealth Office in London. The apostile will be done on the back of each document.
- Once the documents have been apostiled, they then have to be translated into Spanish by a legal translator.
- Please be informed that the Mexican Authorities will keep all legal papers.
- An original blood test must be taken in resort. A charge of US $80.00 per person will apply, to be paid locally.
- The marriage certificate will be issued in Spanish, on return to the UK you will be required to have it translated.
